The show was a great success! Seven paintings were sold during the reception, thereby raising funds for the Haiti relief efforts of the Lutheran Church. Those funds were further multiplied by the partial matching provided by Thrivent Financial, so that more than 50% of the proceeds went directly to that effort.
There was a good crowd enjoying themselves, with good food , live music and lots of good energy. There were students from SCSU mixing with collectors. Jack gave a talk concerning his work and the spirituality of artists at work, which was well received. There was a lively question and answer period afterwards. One of the visitors was Minnesota State Senator Tarryl Clark and her husband, Doug. She requested Jack to display art at her office in the Minnesota State Capitol Building and Jack agreed to do it.
The University Lutheran Church has decided to continue rotating artists in their venue, based on the success of sponsoring artists in the region. The unique design of the church makes it a good gallery; the walls are great and the sanctuary is flexible enough to easily change around for the purpose of having receptions.Spread the word!
